Hey there Auburn / Opelika fitness enthusiasts!
Happy August! School is starting back up, football season is around the corner, and the weather should start cooling off soon (who am I kidding, we know it’s not cooling down for another 2 months at least)!
With the change in seasons, I want to give you five game-changing pieces of fitness advice that will transform how you look, move, and feel. Trust me, there’s something here for everyone. Don’t feel like you need to implement all five tomorrow though!
1. Re-Think the Drink
Alcohol may be impacting your health more than you realize. Many of our clients notice a significant improvement in their health, sleep, well-being, energy, libido, and cognition when they reduce their alcohol intake. You don’t need to cut out drinking altogether, but consider lowering your consumption to see a positive shift in your life.
2. Stop Rushing
Crash diets, intense training, excessive supplements, and lack of sleep are like putting your health on a credit card—you get results fast, but they don’t last, and you’ll pay for it later. Opt for a slower, more sustainable approach to getting in shape. It works better and lasts longer.
3. You Aren’t Broken… You Need the Basics
The fitness industry often convinces people they are broken and need a magic solution. The truth is, a combination of lifting weights, walking, eating real food, and getting enough sleep can transform your life. You aren’t broken; you just need the basics.
4. Stack Good Choices
Your body reflects all the workouts you do, the sleep you get, and the food you eat. Don’t beat yourself up over one “bad” meal, missed workout, or poor night’s sleep. Focus on making the next good choice. One decision can get you back on track.
5. Quiet the Noise
Ignore the sensationalized nutrition information online. Instead, focus on core principles: eat adequate protein, fiber, fruits, and vegetables, stay hydrated, reduce alcohol, and limit processed food. A lot of the rest is just noise.
Emphasize Sustainable Change
Especially with point #2—stop rushing. Don’t try to do everything at once. It’s overwhelming for both your brain and body. Implement one change at a time into your routine in a sustainable way, and reap the benefits.
Keep moving… Stay moving… Stay healthy!
