Why September is the Best Time to Start Your Fitness Journey

Hey there Auburn / Opelika fitness enthusiasts!

It’s September. Football season is in full swing, the kids are back in school, and the days are slowly but surely becoming shorter. All of these could be used as reasons why you shouldn’t start a workout routine right now. After all, January is “right around the corner,” and life is just busy right now, right?

Well, you’re not necessarily wrong. Life is busy right now. But I’d argue that’s the perfect reason to start a routine now, and here’s why:

Your Health is Worth More Than Waiting

As of today, there’s just under 33% of the year left. That’s one-third of a year that you could spend working towards a healthier you. Imagine a version of yourself with more energy, more happiness, and more drive. Picture waking up energized, without chronic pain, and with lowered stress levels. These remaining ~4 months of the year are more than enough time to completely overhaul your health and fitness.

Start with Momentum, Not Resistance

Why not head into 2025 with momentum rather than resistance? If you’re already finding excuses to kick the can down the road, those excuses won’t miraculously go away once the calendar turns to January, and your schedule won’t suddenly be wide open.

Simple Steps to Start

You don’t need to start with some crazy routine. If you’re completely sedentary, begin with a few walks each week around the neighborhood. Try a 10-15 minute walk after dinner, or even in the morning before work. Starting a fitness routine doesn’t have to mean hitting the gym every day; it just means making a deliberate choice to put your health first.

The Best Time is Now

The best day to start your health and fitness journey was yesterday. But the second best time? That’s right now. Take control of your health, make that commitment, and see how much better you can feel before the year ends.
