Simplify Nutrition: Easy Tips to Make Healthy Eating a Breeze

Hey there Auburn / Opelika fitness enthusiasts!

Clients tell us all the time: “Nutrition is the hardest part!” and I couldn’t agree more.

If you workout an hour a day, 3x/week, that’s 3 hours per week. But what about the other 165 hours? We’re likely to spend considerably more time cooking and eating, so why does nutrition often come second to exercise?

The common sentiment is, “It’s hard and not as fun.” But what if it didn’t have to be?

Making Nutrition Easier

Imagine you had to change your outfit 3-5 times a day… new shirt, pants, socks, etc. Making brand new outfits from scratch every time would be exhausting. Eventually, you’d buy a bunch of the same shirts, pants, and socks you like and rotate through a few staples. That’s what we recommend for our clients with their meals.

Tips for Simplifying Meals:

1. Consistent Breakfasts

For breakfast, aim for true consistency, at least from Monday through Friday (your workdays). Simplifying breakfast can make starting your day much easier and give you the energy you need to get moving. Consider quick options like oatmeal, Greek yogurt with fruit, or scrambled eggs.

2. Leftover Lunches

One easy tip I love is using leftovers for lunch. Make enough dinner the night before so you can have the leftovers the following day for lunch. This saves money, time, and energy!

3. Simple Dinners

For dinner, you can create a bit more variety. To save time, implement tools like a slow cooker into your routine. It can cook for you while you work, and you’ll come home to a fresh, healthy meal, along with a great-smelling home!

Consistency is Key

You don’t need to eat the same thing for breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week, but you also don’t need to prepare 21 different meals each week. Creating some consistency in your diet will make meal planning easier and more sustainable.

By rotating through a few staple meals that you enjoy and are easy to prepare, you can simplify your nutrition routine and make healthy eating more manageable. Your brain (and body) will thank you!

Keep moving… Stay moving… Stay healthy!

In good health,
