Finding Time for Fitness: Tips for Busy Schedules

Balancing a hectic lifestyle with a commitment to your own health can be incredibly challenging. Between work and family, sometimes it can feel near impossible to even fit in time for your friends, let alone any enjoyable hobbies you may have once had. So how are you supposed to fit in time for your health on top of everything else?

Here are a few tips and tricks we use with our clients to help them reach their health and fitness goals, even with crazy busy schedules:

1. Short and Effective Workouts

You don’t need to work out for hours on end, every day of the week. We typically recommend 2-3 times per week to start, at 30-45 minutes per session. At most, this comes out to a little over 2 hours per week, or roughly 1.3% of your weekly time.

2. Utilize Small Windows of Time

If you don’t have large chunks of time in your schedule, utilize smaller windows of time. Even if you only have 10 minutes, use it! This can be as simple as going on a brisk walk around your office at lunchtime, or a stroll around the neighborhood at night with your spouse.

3. Have an Accountability Buddy

While this won’t help you utilize your time better, it will help prevent you from de-prioritizing your health at the last minute. We’ve found that clients who have someone to keep them accountable have a 90% higher chance of success.

Consistency is Key

Remember, consistency is key. Even short, regular bouts of exercise can lead to significant health improvements over time.
