Hey there Auburn & Opelika fitness enthusiasts!
I almost got into it with this lady on Facebook the other day.
For context, I don’t spend much time on social media, and I’m usually pretty good at scrolling past the stuff that makes me roll my eyes. But this time, a comment really got to me. This lady was claiming that our clients were just “spinning their wheels” by lifting weights and that they wouldn’t lose weight doing that.
As someone who is passionate about our community and knows how hard our clients work, I was ready to dive into the comment section and set the record straight. But after some deep breaths and a good dinner, I realized something important: this debate wasn’t worth my energy.
Weight Loss Isn’t the Only Goal
Let’s be clear: many of our clients do want to lose weight. For a lot of people, it’s the main reason they reach out to us in the first place. And yes, we’ve helped hundreds of clients lose weight. But in our studios, we don’t make that number the biggest deal.
“But if weight loss is my main goal, shouldn’t it be the biggest deal?”
And to that, I say… no.
The Bigger Picture: Loving the Process
In my humble opinion, learning to love the process should be the biggest deal. If we can get you to the point where you:
- Become a person who takes care of themselves
- Make healthy choices every day
- Exercise multiple times per week
You’re going to lose the weight. But here’s the thing: progress isn’t linear. Weight loss, strength gains, and health improvements can all ebb and flow. If we strictly rely on weight loss to be our motivator, the moment we stop losing weight is the moment our momentum comes to a halt. That’s when we fall off the wagon and sometimes it takes years to try again.
Rewrite Your Story
It’s a story I’ve heard countless times, and it’s our mission to help you re-write that story. By focusing on becoming the best version of yourself, the weight loss and other benefits will follow naturally.
What’s the Takeaway?
Learn to enjoy the process. Make sustainable changes. Trust that the results will come as a byproduct of living a healthier lifestyle. And most importantly, don’t let anyone’s comments—online or off—make you doubt your journey.
Keep moving… Stay moving… Stay healthy!
In good health,
